FAQs

  • The Triple Vagal Method® is a somatic trauma transformation method that aims to release and heal trauma while increasing vagal tone through physical manipulation of the main branches of the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is responsible for fight or flight, freeze, and social engagement responses in the body. This is a bottom up somatic approach to trauma healing. It helps heal dysregulation and dissociation and restore safety in the body. TVM™ supports nerve system optimization.

  • In all of us we have bound up energy in our bodies- in our bones, our organs, our muscles, and our tissues- it has been bound up as a response to trauma, and that response originally happened to keep us safe. However, during the original insult we weren’t able to complete these trauma cycles and hence the energy is immobilized. These trauma cycles desire completion and TVM™ assists the body in this.

During a TVM™ session, the body is physically stimulated in specific areas to intentionally trigger a switch between parasympathetic and sympathetic states to help the body build vagal tone. This allows bound traumas/wounds/charges to complete. This frees up energy that can support the body to heal. When this energy is released, many things can happen. One can shake, sweat, cry, laugh, yell, burp, cough, move, produce mucus, and also feel blissed out and potentially have a minor psychedelic experience.

We all travel the cascade of the nervous system, and this is good. With TVM™, you will be building vagal tone, which means that you will be able to switch from a parasympathetic state to a sympathetic response and back into a parasympathetic state quickly and effectively. Increased vagal tone equals greater resilience in the body. You will have a greater capacity to experience the life you have always wanted to be living.

You don’t need to remember specific traumas to heal them. We will follow the intelligence of the body, building safety, and bringing you into this Now where all possibilities exist.

  • Like other healing modalities, it is possible for things to get worse before they get better. An important risk to be aware of is the Risk of Reassociation. As parts of us that have been numbed or disconnected due to traumas begin to thaw, it can be painful, both physically and emotionally to reassociate these parts. During this process, you may experience resistance or projection of the pain. Feeling all of it will help it discharge, but it can feel confusing and disorienting. Supportive practices during this time include: maintaining self care practices, spending time in nature, and leaning on family, friends, and pets for connection and co-regulation.

  • While every pregnancy is unique, generally, TVM™ is excellent at supporting mother and her growing baby to drop into the parasympathetic state and bring more regulation and heart coherence on board.
